Entertaining Essentials

If you want to entertain without the overwhelming feeling build a collection of essentials.

Because hospitality isn’t built on perfection—it’s built on readiness. Not the fussy, elaborate kind… the simple kind that lets you say “Come on over” without a second thought.

Here are a few basic entertaining essentials that make hosting feel effortless, even on a Tuesday night.

A Few Reliable Serving Pieces

You don’t need a full collection—just a few pieces you reach for again and again.

A white platter, a wooden bowl and a small stack of appetizer plates.

These pieces work for everything: cheese boards, salads, snacks for drop-in guests, even a simple store-bought dessert.

A Go-To Playlist

Set the mood in an instant with a great playlist at the ready. My go-to: Hipster Cocktail Party Radio from Pandora.

A Few Pantry Staples

You don’t need to prep a full appetizer spread. With just a handful of basics, you can build a last-minute snack board.

I like to keep parmesan, fruit and a jar of something briny on hand at all times.

Great for last minute boards but also snacks the whole family enjoys.

The goal isn’t fancy—it’s easy.

If you keep these few items at hand, hosting becomes less about preparing and more about being present.
